SASL? Seriously?

Apparently Freenode has blocked my ISP for non-SASL connections because some shit-ass has used it for abuse.

Good luck seeing me there. Using a complicated system like SASL for a simple thing like IRC is completely against my principles.

We have not blocked access from that network. We are, however, requiring that users authenticate - using SASL - before they may use freenode.

The decision to require SASL was taken in light of repeated and persistent abuse
originating from that network, which had resulted in wide bans being set on the
network in a number of large channels.

Oh dear, human stupidity at its best again.

Sigh, “web neutrality” rubbish. They think you are up to something, and that is a complete lie. Grow up ISP’s and fight back, the web is for all. Not those rich people called “the industry”.

“Web” neutrality is meaningless. “Net” or “Internet” are not.

However here there is no neutrality issue. Freenode is an online service provider, if you’re not happy with their services, use another. IRC servers aren’t that rare.

    @:( Try Minecraft instead, I heard it’s written in a performance-oriented language.

Wtf are you even talking about? I think the term you were looking for is object orientated. However that doesn’t help minecraft. Minecraft is a resource hogg. It takes us so much ram it’s unreal…

Also Minecraft’s performance is poor at best compared to minetest.
