1. This is a slightly modified version of an upstream mod.  The start-
ing point was obtained originally as follows:

      rm -fr books
      git clone https://github.com/MT-Axinite/books.git

2. Changes include:

2a. Removal of a zero-length BUGS file, a README placeholder file with
no actual content, and a largely superfluous TODO file.

2b. Added the files "00README" and "oldcoder.txt" (this file).
