Bucket City Details: April 06, 2019 1. Introduction. This is release 190406 of this document. It supersedes lower-numbered drafts. This document is a list of Bucket City buildings and locations. It's also a list of available schems and their properties. The license for this document, and for the 190406 releases of the schem files that it discusses, is MIT/X with copyright assigned to Andrew Walton (Slopsbucket). Licenses may change for future drafts and releases, but this will not affect existing drafts and releases. To put it another way, nobody can take away rights that have been granted previously. The author of this document is Andrew Walton (Slopsbucket). The editor is Robert Kiraly (OldCoder). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. History of Bucket World. Slopsbucket says: I've been playing with Minetest for quite a while. I've occasionally posted maps in forums when I've built something I was proud of. I like building things and I like sharing. Unfortunately, most free file hosts don't hold Minetest maps for very long before the link is dead. Someone suggested that I make schematic files of my buildings instead because they are much smaller files and can be hosted directly by forums. This approach worked, when I tried it, but I started to discover problems. Most importantly, when I imported schematic files into maps, there were compatibility issues with different versions of Minetest. Some versions wouldn't display torches properly. Other versions wouldn't place torches at all. In some versions, trying to open a door would crash the game, and in later versions there was a bug where patterns of blocks would get rotated. OldCoder very kindly offered to help me solve some of these problems if he could, and during this process the Bucket World was born. This world gives people a chance to see how my schems should appear when loaded correctly. It also works as a cataloguing system for the schems so that people can access and use them much more easily. OldCoder has also very kindly created a patched version of minetest_game that will allow people to install these schems in their own worlds with, hopefully, no problems. I hope it makes for an enjoyable experience for everyone. And I hope you check the MT forums at forum.minetest.org from time to time because there will be more innovative ideas spun out of this project. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Explanations of fields. 3.1. The "Schem Pos:" field lists the Lower South-West coordinates of a schem in Bucket City. The coordinates should be compatible with MT WorldEdit or CoderEdit schem-load commands. If you'd like to reproduce Bucket City, you can use these coordinates. Otherwise, they don't matter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.2. The "Location:" field lists coordinates that are suitable for teleport commands. These are, in general though not universally, the coordinates of the centre of the ground floor. If you don't use the "Schem Pos:" coordinates to load a given schem, the "Location:" coordinates will be inapplicable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.3. For the official Bucket City world, the Teleport commands listed here are set up and already work. For your own worlds, the Teleport commands are simply suggestions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.4. Schems added prior to 190209 come as a single ".mts" file. Schems added on 190209 or later may come as pairs of two files, an ".mts" file and a ".we" file. Each ".mts" file contains nodes without meta. The corresponding ".we" file contains nodes that carry required meta. The Final Minetest command "//loadboth" may be used to load such pairs. For example: //loadboth poshdining In Old Minetest, you can try using "//mtschemplace" to place the MTS component and //load to load the corresponding WE component. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.
